The last post was quite sad but I felt a little hopeless and then with the dentist appointment it crushed me a bit. I have been doing better and felt it has been such a good month and then this sudden thing. I´m not that good with change so might be that but I’m back on my feet and been cleaning my bedroom and dusting off everything. One thing that I’m very excited about is listening to books and learning. I feel for the first time wanting to learn about new different eras.

This year I read:

Instängda barn av Leone Milton | Trapped Children by Leone Milton

Allt jag fått lära mig av Tara Westover | Educated of Tara Westover

Advokatrötan av Fredrik Sjöshult | Lawyer rot of Fredrik Sjöshult

I totally forgot I read Trapped children but it was very good and touching. I highly recommend it. I forgot what kind of stories there were in the book but I remember I thought how can this happen in Sweden and what a good writer Leone Milton. I don’t think it is in English but for my Swedish readers recommend. Here is there description for the book from Adlibris

”TESTIMONY FROM THE YSTADS FAMILY, THE BROMÖLLA CASE AND THE PASTOR’S FATHER’S DAUGHTERS

Åsa, Roger and their five children became known to us as the Ystads family. Several years later we still remember them. The children who couldn’t eat a banana by themselves, the children who were never allowed to go to school. How could this happen? In Sweden?

Unfortunately, this is far from an isolated case. Ami-Ro lived isolated on a farm in Skåne with her seven siblings, her mother Stina and father Bengt. They lived disconnected from the outside world and were constantly exposed to threats and violence. The father later received the nickname ”the pastor” in the newspapers when he was sentenced to prison for what he subjected his family members to.

Melina was kept hidden from her father for almost two decades. Her mother thought he would marry her and her siblings off – but the truth was completely different.

Leone Milton is a journalist and author living in Stockholm, but with roots in Skåne. She has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Lund University and has written a number of books, such as ”The Plastic Surgeon”, ”Ta Makten – för att det funkar” and ”Mamma med ätstörning”. Leone is also co-author of several autobiographical books, such as ”Till mina codskar”, ”Berättar du så dödar jag dig” and ”The Machine”. In ”Instängda barn” she has been able to go behind the scenes of the Ystad family and two similar cases. What drives parents to lock their children up and how do the children fare as adults?

Educated was a shocking favour, I had tried to listen to it before but I thought the tempo was a little slow but the other time I really gave it a chance. It blew me way and touched me in such an incredible story. It gave me a new view on how important education is. Her description on there surrounding and her feelings were incredible, it feels you’re there in the moment. Highly highly recommend it. You can read it in Swedish and in English, Here is the description from Adlibris

”’A memoir to stand alongside classics by the likes of Jeanette Winterson and Lorna Sage … a compelling and ultimately joyous account of self-determination’ Sunday Times Tara Westover grew up preparing for the End of Days, watching for the sun to darken, for the moon to drip as if with blood. She spent her summers bottling peaches and her winters rotating emergency supplies, hoping that when the World of Men failed, her family would continue on, unaffected. She hadn’t been registered for a birth certificate. She had no school records because she’d never set foot in a classroom, and no medical records because her father didn’t believe in doctors or hospitals. According to the state and federal government, she didn’t exist. As she grew older, her father became more radical, and her brother, more violent. At sixteen Tara decided to educate herself. Her struggle for knowledge would take her far from her Idaho mountains, over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge. Only then would she wonder if she’d travelled too far. If there was still a way home. EDUCATED is an account of the struggle for self-invention. It is a tale of fierce family loyalty, and of the grief that comes with the severing of the closest of ties. With the acute insight that distinguishes all great writers, from her singular experience Westover has crafted a universal coming-of-age story that gets to the heart of what an education is and what it offers: the perspective to see one’s life through new eyes, and the will to change it.”

Last book is Advokatrötan. I´m left speechless by this book, Fredrik who also read book tells in the book how there are lawyers in Sweden who are friends whit gang-members and that way get recommend by them and then they get in trouble or arrested for something they help them hide evidence. The lawyer association (avdokat samfundet) don’t do anything to these crimes and then other associates noticed them they don’t do anything. Even when some lawyers get their lawyer qualification away they still get to work lawyer apprentice and get to meet clients. Is a truly dirty industry were people who are criminals get to walk free or no wear near fair sentence. Very good but I don’t think you can find it in English. The description of the book also form Adlibris

”Swedish lawyers in suits and suits have gone from guardians of the law to confidants of criminals. With personal insight and revealing details, crime reporter Fredrik Sjöshult portrays the Swedish lawyer rot that is spreading – a world where greed, power and loyalty to gang criminals blur the line between justice and crime.

Through scandalous examples, from the “King and Prince” in the Encrochat scandal to love affairs between lawyers and gang leaders, it is revealed how Sweden’s legal system is being exploited by those who should be defending it. How could it have gone so far? And what is needed to stop the advance of gangster lawyers?

Lawyer Rot is a shocking story about abuse of power, the crisis of the rule of law and gang criminals in suits.

”With several interesting examples such as the Encrochat case or cases that describe love affairs that have developed between a lawyer and a powerful figure in criminal circles, the book offers a high-quality investigative report mixed with Sjöshult’s personal insights.”

That was all from me. Goodbye
